tell me more.

This competition is a celebration of the ordinary.  Here at Budgy Smuggler we are more concerned about the character of the person wearing Smugglers, than whether you can grate cheese on their abs.

What will the UK's Most Ordinary Rig win?

The most elite ordinary rigs will gain a place in the final where they’ll fight it out in a Miss World Pageant meets Victoria’s Secret Parade to be crowned the UK’s Most Ordinary Rig.

They'll also win a one year modelling contract with Budgy Smuggler, a Billboard in their home town and a trip to Australia in 2023 to compete in the World's Most Ordinary Rig.

What are you looking for?

We’re looking for rigs who meet the following criteria:

  • Good to have beers with
  • Can still run for a taxi and swing an axe
  • Can carry all of the shopping in one go
  • Looks like they were good at sport at some point in their lives but were prevented by injury or poor coaching selection at a young age
  • A six pack is an automatic disqualification (unless you are carrying it)

How do I enter?

To nominate yourself or a friend and enter The UK's Most Ordinary Rig, post an entertaining Instagram feed post (photo or video) of yourself in your Smugglers in all your ordinary-ness and tag #OrdinaryRigUK @BudgySmugglerUK and you’re in the running to win. It's that simple.

(Remember you must be on public for us to see your entry)

The last day to enter is 12th of June.

How did Ordinary Rig start?

The genesis of the event was when a group of 17 year old kids from Penrith in Western Sydney came to the Australian Budgy Smuggler office to pick up some Smugglers for their Schoolies Week (basically a big piss up on the Gold Coast after you finish high school).

The boys were ready to go and had the finest mullets, rats tails and speed stripes you’ve ever seen. One of the lads mentioned “We’ve been getting so ripped for schoolies” and this is when the penny dropped.

We realised that young males are now under similar body image pressures to what women have endured for a long time. This has only been exacerbated by social media. We wanted to do something to counter the narrative that you need to look like the cover of Men’s Health to be healthy and to be loved by your mates.

Ordinary Rig was Born.
